Energy Star Appliances soon to get rebates
In the months to come home owners and non home owners may be eligible to receive rebates from their states or territories for the purchase of new Energy Star appliances.
Eligible consumers can receive rebates to purchase new energy efficient appliances when they replace used appliances. The program will be funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
All 56 states and territories have submitted their own rebate program design to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Some of these plans have already been approved.
Each state and territory may select its own set of ENERGY STAR qualified products to rebate. DOE has recommended that states select from among the following appliances:
- Boilers
- Central air conditioners
- Clothes washers
- Dishwashers
- Freezers
- Furnaces (oil and gas)
- Heat pumps (air source and geothermal)
- Refrigerators
- Room air conditioners
- Water heaters
